Cartoony September 18, 2008Jed (UK) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful The users manual states that the Reel Deal franchise is the most successful computer casino game series in the world. The only reason I can really see for this is that it adopts a populist approach that tries to be more fun and amusing rather than serious. The whole style is very cartoony, for example in offline play you'll be playing mainly against silly robot characters. It's hard to believe that this game is from 2007; the graphics are crude in comparison to,say, the Hoyle series that it feels more like a 1997 game. I even have one of those "Valusoft" 505 games compendiums and the graphics are generally on a par with that. Money too is confusing, and considering that casino games are based around the collection of (compputer) money this seems a flaw. Why make 2 different types of money, Dream world and Real World ? It's just confusing. And there have been many times when I have won large sums in (say) poker, only for it to somehow vanish when I start another game. If there is an explanation for thisit should really be much clearer. So far, I'm still perplexed about this vanishing money. It's not all bad though. The highlight for me is definitely the video slot machines, very entertaining with colourful and well animated graphics and some exclellent music and sound effects. In particular there's an "Alice" video slot that seems to pay an homage to the sinister feel of an acclaimed video game, American McGees Alice. There are some nice FMV animated sequences throughout too. For example on the craps table when you press the Roll button you are given a view from the felt of the table with the dice tumbling towards you. No effect on gameplay of course but amusing to look at. The manual too explains the game rules quite clearly, and this will obviously be of help to more novice casino game players. The rest though; well there are a few nice touches (for example the Old West theme shooting gallery),but overall apart from the video slots I wasn't tempted to play much further than a few sessions. The non- intimidating style of the game might appeal for those looking for a casual casino experience, but for a more realistic and authentic experience I think I'll stick with Hoyle's. Best casino game on the market August 22, 2008Heather (Virginia) I've tried every casino game I could get my hands on, and this is the best one available (at least until Phantom releases the new version in 9/08!). The sheer number of available games, the quality of the slot machines, bonus features like a casino host and your own suite, and the "MMO" online experience make this the best casino game out there by far and the one that most makes you feel like you're in a real casino. Besides the fact that this game has far more table, poker, and slot options than other games (like sports betting on real teams, Catch a Wave, Sic Bo, etc) - the ones they have in common are superior. For example, some other games have a horse racing track and use plastic horses on a cheesy mini track. This game shows a real track with realistic looking horses and video cameras for close ups of the action (there is also greyhound racing). Another example is the slot machines - which have elaborate bonus rounds that play out as fun minigames. This is the most realistic experience you can get if you love casino gambling, without spending real money. If you have slot addiction, this is for you July 25, 2008TheBossLady (Vermont, USA) This software is made by Phantom EFX. It takes a few minutes to load and the games are great fun; but if you can afford $10/month, a whole virtual casino awaits you. It takes a little time to get to the EFX site, and, once there you will be amazed at what is available. Currently, Phantom is creating a second virtual casino; the first one that is now available has slots, table games, horse races, hotel rooms, etc. etc. You can play 24/7 - the first 30 days are free, but if you are like me, $10 a month is well worth the money to be able to play "live" on the web. It is an amazing site, and the games are even better then at the real casino since you can't lose any real money, but you get the same kick. There are challenges, a wonderful chat area, and "guilds" - groups of people who get together and challenge other guilds in slot tournaments. This is far better then Pogo or Ultimate Bet. I don't have any complaints at all - and I love the site (and no, I don't work for them), but I can't say enough good things about the "clean" entertainment value, and the chat rooms being monitored and pretty much slander free. goldrush 4 June 4, 2008shirley mcsperitt (ct) reel deal gold rush find it enjoying not as much as all the other reel deal games so i give it a 4 star Extreme Frustration January 17, 2008Jim Trunks (none yo) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful If you are looking for a game that is easy to download and allows you to get quickly in to the gaming fun DO NOT buy this game. If you do decide to buy this game you will be saddled with more work than play. If you want a sample of all the trouble people are having with this game just search Phantom EFX. Open the message board and read for yourself. You are not able to enjoy all the features of this game until you get online. This alone will have you pulling your hair out. If you do manage to get on line it will cost you ten or better dollars a month. Do yourself a favor and leave this game on the rack. | |||||||||||
