Customer Reviews: YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED! Well written, amazing content December 2, 2008Dustin D. Dobrilovic (Ohio) I'm only on chapter 5 and already love it. I've played for 2 years, one year earning a nice living as a part-timer at 200NL live play. I've read a lot of books and after the 3rd book you usually run into the same material slightly regurgitated. Not here. The ideas that he presents are not available elsewhere or placed from a fresh point of view that assures you'll get something to take to the table. This is a book that when you start reading it, you automatically know you'll be re-reading it in the near future. This is not due to being dense in writing-style, because even the most literature-adverse reader (oxymoron?) will be instantly enraptured by John Vorhaus's beautiful writing-style. A very easy read. Another fine aspect of this book is how John encourages interactive thinking with small reflective exercises perfectly placed within the text. I hope he has done the same for his other texts as I will be buying them very soon. As I said, I'm only on chapter 5, and I normally would want to refrain from reviewing a book I have yet to complete, but I'm certain I won't be disappointed. Too many words, Little Content June 27, 2008Abart_Mard (USA) If you haved excessive amount of time to waste, then Vorhaus's books are very handy. He goes on, and on, and on about irrelavant materials. For example he spends a whole long paragraph explaining that most poker players are male and when he uses the word he, refering to the third person, he is not being disrespectful to females!!. Or about how Internet has revolutionarized the world! Wow, I didn't know that, thanks for enlightening us!! But, I know one thing, I realy don't have time to waste reading detailed descritions of obvious at nauseam! I returned three of his books that I had ordered back to Amazon the day after. No thanks, I have more respect for my time. Killer Poker No Limit: A Winning Strategy for Cash Games and Tournaments October 21, 2007James W. Braun 3 out of 4 found this review helpful This is my 4th Killer Poker book, and my 5th book by John Vorhaus. I have learned things with each one of his books and this one is no different. John, if you keep writting them, I'll keep reading them. Loose Agressive May 15, 2007MJG (Las Vegas, NV) 7 out of 11 found this review helpful Vorhaus advocates a kind of early Gus Hansen style of crazy-aggressive play. It's not for everyone, but after reading this book I dominated a 5/10 NLHE game, and it was the most fun I've ever had at the felt. | |||||||||||
