| Editorial Reviews: Product Description No limit hold em is exploding in popularity. Before 2000, it could be difficult to find a game. In 2006, it is played everywhere in casino cardrooms, in bar backrooms and homes, and on the Internet. Now anyone can find a game, but few know how to play well. Most players learn by watching television or by listening to dubious advice from their friends. While they may have picked up a valuable tidbit here or there, most players come to the table without a winning plan. These players have two options: wise up or go broke. The world s foremost poker theorist, David Sklansky, and noted poker authority, Ed Miller, will wise you up quickly. No Limit Hold em: Theory and Practice is the definitive work on this complex game. It provides you a window into the heads of experts, teaching you in straightforward and enjoyable terms the how s and why s of winning play. It covers critical concepts like manipulating the pot size, adjusting correctly to stack sizes, winning the battle of mistakes, reading hands, and manipulating opponents into playing badly. It teaches you about implied odds and how to size your bets and raises effectively. It even covers many principles of short stacked play that will give you a big edge in no limit hold em tournaments. Never before have so many people played no limit hold em, and never before has there been so much opportunity to win big. If you want your share of the spoils, read this book! | |||||||||||
Customer Reviews: Read 47 more reviews... Spectacular book December 16, 2008Victor Almeida (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) Perfect book to understand better the theory of No Limit Hold'em. Very important concepts are presented in a simple and easy to understand fashion. I recommend this book to every player of Hold'em. Sklanksy's lastest - not his greatest November 24, 2008FELIX (N.Potomac, MD) I read this book expecting to learn something. What I learned is never buy another book written by David Sklansky. This is my third book of his that I now own (Hold em, Poker Theory). I can't say I learned much from this book about how to play cash games. It's very technical and has a lot of numbers and calculations, but I found little substantive information to help my cash game action. This book made me think I need to bring a calculator to the table. I would look elsewhere to learn how to master no-limit holdem cash games. Pure GARBAGE September 28, 2008John Willis 0 out of 9 found this review helpful There are only 52 cards in a deck of cards and the rules to this game are VERY SIMPLE. This book is 300 pages of worthless drivel. Youll read this book, and play exactly like you always play. This book is garbage. Excellent Poker Strategy Book September 9, 2008Roger Hunter (Adelaide) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful One of 3 books on poker I bought. It is an all-time classic from what I've read and it certainly seems to live up to that billing. Its comprehensive, well laid out and easy to follow. If you're serious about winning at poker you need this book! Lots of helpful tips and advice. Great book excellent, a must have December 31, 2007Joseph A. Quispe 1 out of 3 found this review helpful This book is the book your looking for on no limit strategy. It explains many concepts that may not be clear to the starter player who wants to get deeper in knowledge. Many holdem books apply to limit poker but this book goes further into concepts that are started in supersystem and why doyle can makes certain plays. | |||||||||||
